In total 7,128 pre war Taunuses of the G93A type were made, including estate cars and light vans, before the post war G73A models of 1949 began to be built in much larger numbers. The 1949 Taunus G73A was a sedan with the same four cylinder engine as before. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations.
