In large part because of the popularity of the Eifel, Ford Germany moved from eighth place in German passenger car sales in 1933 to fourth place in 1938. The Eifel was by then a Model C based car with a wrap around grille and steel wheels, and over half of the output of the Cologne factory. The Eifel was a small German Ford based on the British Model C, assembled in Cologne and elsewhere. It was named after a mountain range in western Germany, and it made up over half of the Cologne output.
