For 1937 the Kadett was offered as a small and unpretentious two door Limousine saloon or, at the same list price, as a soft top Cabrio Limousine. The 1,074 cubic centimeter side valve engine came from the 1935 Opel P4 with the same listed power output of 23 PS. By the end of 1937 33,402 of these first generation Kadetts had been produced. The 1937 Kadett was a prewar small car, the first to carry the name.
