In the middle of 1932 Nash set up the Ambassador Eight as a model range of its own, offered in several body styles including coupes and victorias, riding on 133 inch or 142 inch wheelbases with a twin ignition overhead valve straight eight. This was part of a second 1932 series with completely new bodies and engineering updates. Sales across the industry were dismal in the Depression, yet Nash prospered and was the only company besides General Motors to make a profit in 1932.
