A considerably changed Cowley was announced on 29 August 1931, with redesigned coachwork for a more pleasing appearance, an eddy free leading edge to the roof of closed cars, petrol tanks at the rear of the chassis, and Magna type wire wheels as standard. The brakes were hydraulic and supplied by Lockheed. The chassis had been modified in 1931 to bring it into line with the Morris Major, and a sports coupe was added to the range.
