In 1928 the cylinder heads of the Phantom were upgraded from cast iron to aluminium, which caused corrosion problems. The New Phantom used the same frame as the Silver Ghost, with semi elliptical springs suspending the front axle and cantilever springs suspending the rear axle. The UK cars had a 4 speed transmission, while American models had a centre change 3 speed transmission. The New Phantom was built at Derby and at Springfield.
