Wolseley is a British car marque started in 1901 by the Vickers armaments firm with Herbert Austin as its managing director. It made a full range of cars topped by large luxury models and was the biggest British maker in the Edwardian years. William Morris bought the company from Vickers in 1927, and after the war Wolseley cars were upmarket versions of Morris cars with the marque's famous illuminated radiator badge. They carried on through BMC, BMH and British Leyland until the name lapsed in 1975.
