The P6 was announced on 9 October 1963 as the Rover 2000, a clean sheet design meant to appeal to more buyers than the P4 it replaced, with a de Dion rear suspension, four wheel disc brakes and a fully synchromesh gearbox. It won industry awards for safety. The Buick derived V8 made it the 3500 from 1968, the Series II came in 1970 and the 2200 in 1973. It was made at Solihull by Rover and then British Leyland. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 2 generations: the Series I (1963 to 1970); the Series II (1970 to 1977).
