Scion was a Toyota brand aimed at younger buyers in North America. It went on sale in California in June 2003, spread across the United States by 2004 and reached Canada in 2010. Its cars were small, inexpensive and distinctive, among them the xA, xB, tC, xD, iQ and FR-S, each sold in a single trim at a fixed price with a long menu of dealer fitted accessories for personalizing. Sales peaked in 2006 and slid after the 2008 financial crisis. Toyota closed the brand in August 2016, and the surviving models either moved to the Toyota brand or were dropped.
