Saturn was a General Motors brand started in 1985 to take on Japanese small cars, run almost as a separate company with its own dealers, its own prices that were not haggled over and its own plant at Spring Hill, Tennessee. The first cars came five years later and used dent resistant plastic body panels over a spaceframe. As the years passed the brand was drawn back into General Motors and its later models were largely taken from other General Motors lines, including federalized Opel cars. A sale to Penske failed in 2009, Saturn stopped building cars in October 2009 and its dealer agreements ended in October 2010. The brand is defunct, and its models, generations and model years stay on this site with a link back to this page.
