Metropolitan was the name of the small economy car that American Motors sold as a standalone make from 1957, once the Nash and Hudson names were retired. The cars were designed in the United States and built in England by Austin, with Fisher and Ludlow bodies, and were sold through Rambler dealers with an M badge on the hubcaps and the grille. Production ended in 1961, and the earlier Nash and Hudson badged cars of 1954 to 1956 are kept under those two makes.
