Healey

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

Healey was the name under which the Donald Healey Motor Company of Warwick, England, sold the cars it designed and built itself from 1946, before the firm's partnerships produced the Nash-Healey and the Austin-Healey. The cars mainly used a tuned version of the Riley 2.4-litre twin-cam four-cylinder engine in a light steel box-section chassis of Healey's own design, with independent front suspension by coil springs and alloy trailing arms. The range included the aerodynamic Elliott saloon of 1948, claimed to be the fastest production closed car in the world, and the Silverstone sports car of 1949. The final Healey car of this era was the G-Type, which used an Alvis TB21 engine and gearbox.
