The Eight was the debut model line of the Mercury division of Ford Motor Company, produced from 1939 to 1951 in a full range of coupes, sedans, convertibles and station wagons. It sat between the Ford V8 and the Lincoln Zephyr in price, was rebodied on a Lincoln style shell for 1949 and became the classic lead sled of custom car builders. It was replaced for 1952 by the Mercury Custom and Monterey. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 3 generations: the first generation (1939 to 1940); the second generation (1941 to 1948); the third generation (1949 to 1951).
