The only significant upgrade in the Roadster's production came in September 1948 for the 1949 models, when the 2088 cc Vanguard engine, transmission and rear axle were fitted, and the car was sold as the Triumph 2000 Roadster, the TRA, from 1948. It was sold as the Triumph 1800 Roadster from 1946 to 1948. The 2000 Roadster used the Vanguard engine, with 2088 cc. It was sold from 1948 to 1949, and in the years before that the car had been the 1800 Roadster, so the engine change was the only upgrade of its short life.
