The 60 series was introduced in February 1978 and was the first Starlet extensively sold outside Japan. The Van arrived in October 1978, and the 1.2 liter KP62 became available in most export markets, first seen in Sweden in July 1978 with the de-smogged 3K-C engine. This was the first model year of the Toyota Starlet (second generation, P60), 1978 to 1983, which took over from the Toyota Starlet (first generation, P40 and P50); the 1979 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Starlet run from 1973 to 1999.
