The second generation Prado was released on 8 May 1996 and sold in Japan through Toyota and Toyota Vista dealerships. When the Prado was launched in the UK in 1996 it was called the Land Cruiser Colorado and replaced the 4Runner, which had been discontinued from sale. This was the first model year of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (second generation, J90), 1996 to 2001, which took over from the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (first generation, J70 Prado); the 1997 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado run from 1990 to 2026.
