The second generation Kijang, designated KF20, launched in June 1981 and retained its boxy style although the body panels were different. Under its slimmer bonnet was a 1.3 liter 4K engine. This was the first model year of the Toyota Kijang (second generation, F20 and F30), 1981 to 1985, which took over from the Toyota Kijang (first generation, F10); the 1982 model year follows it.
