The 1986 model year closed out the V10 in the United States with a new automatic only 2.0 liter diesel for the DX and LE, slightly more power from the gasoline engine, a revised power brake system and new cloth trim on the LE. The replacement V20 went on sale in Japan in August 1986. It was the last model year covered for the Toyota Camry (first generation, V10), 1982 to 1986, and the Toyota Camry (second generation, V20) came next, following the 1985 model year.
