The sixth generation 4Runner was officially revealed on 9 April 2024. It is still built in left hand drive at Toyota's Tahara plant in Japan, and it uses the GA-F platform of the Tacoma pickup, with which it shares many mechanical components. Sales were first meant to start after mid 2024, but supply constraints on parts shared with other vehicles pushed them back to December 2024 at the earliest. Like earlier 4Runners it keeps the electrically lowering rear window, which the engineers managed to retain.
