The fifth generation continued in 2013 with the 4.0 liter V6 with dual VVT-i as its engine, since the 2.7 liter four had ended after 2010. All models came with Active Traction Control, and the SR5 and Trail Edition four wheel drive versions got a part time system while the Limited had full time four wheel drive. It was model year 4 of 15 in the Toyota 4Runner (fifth generation, N280), 2010 to 2024, coming after the 2012 model year and before the 2014 model year.
