The 2019 model first went on sale at dealerships in the summer of 2018. A limited EJ20 Final Edition was made available in Japan in late 2019 to commemorate the end of production of the EJ20 engine. WRX models from the 2015 through the 2019 model year suffered from rev hang, which was reduced for the 2020 model year. The car is known for its striking blue shade with gold alloy wheels, because of a sponsorship with a Singaporean cigarette manufacturer.
