The fifth generation Forester was presented on 28 March 2018 at the New York International Auto Show. The fourth generation was in its last year of production, a compact crossover SUV with boxer engines, Lineartronic CVT and EyeSight, built in Japan and sold in North America, Europe and Asia, with the SK to follow on a new global platform. The 2.0i models offered a six speed manual or the Lineartronic CVT, while the 2.0XT used the Lineartronic CVT.
