The Subaru 1000 was superseded in March 1969 by the 1100, also known as the Subaru FF-1 Star in the United States and other export markets, which was introduced in Japan on 1 March 1969 with a larger engine and a facelift. Monthly production of the 1000 had reached more than 4,000 units by March, and a short lived FF-1 Sports appeared in October 1969.
