The Renault Samsung SM3 is a compact saloon built in South Korea by Renault Samsung Motors, the Renault subsidiary at Busan. The first generation, a rebadged Nissan Sunny (Bluebird Sylphy), began production in September 2002 with Nissan 1.5 and 1.6 litre petrol engines and was also sold abroad as the Nissan Almera and the Renault Scala. The second generation arrived in 2009 as a notchback version of the Renault Mégane 3, also badged Renault Fluence, with facelifts in 2012 and 2015. An all-electric SM3 Z.E. went into production at Busan in October 2013 and led South Korean electric car sales in 2013. The petrol car ended production in 2019 and the nameplate in 2020.
