The DeSoto Fireflite was DeSoto's premium full size car from 1955 to 1960. It began as the top trim of the Firedome with a bigger Hemi V8 and PowerFlite automatic, was the pace car of the 1956 Indianapolis 500 as a convertible, took Virgil Exner's Forward Look styling in 1957, and was gradually overshadowed by the Adventurer above it as DeSoto declined. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 2 generations: the first generation (1955 to 1956); the Forward Look (1957 to 1960).
