The 2001 model year facelift gave the Tacoma a new front grille and a new four door crew cab, designed by Yusuke Fukushima and patented in Japan in 1998. The S-Runner built for the two wheel drive Xtracab was produced at only 800 a month between September 2000 and August 2004. It was model year 7 of 10 in the Toyota Tacoma (first generation, N140 to N190), 1995 to 2004, coming after the 2000 model year and before the 2002 model year.
