From the summer of 1936 Morris began to supply a six cylinder 1818 cubic centimeter Morris Fourteen, which clashed with the series II Twelve that the company had briefly promoted as performing just like a 14 horsepower car. Very long stroke engines like that of the Twelve gave good low speed torque at the expense of reliability at higher revolutions and could not use better fuels. The new engine for the next Twelve was introduced in October 1936.
