The first Minica, the LA20, was introduced in October 1962 as a two door sedan based on the Mitsubishi 360 light truck, with a front mounted air cooled twin cylinder 359 cc engine driving the rear wheels. The truck had come first, in April 1961. It was facelifted with the ME24 engine in November 1964 and sold beside the Light Van and the pickup. It was a kei car sold by Mitsubishi in Japan. Its model years run from 1962 to 1968.
