A minor change was made on 3 February 1986 that replaced the engines with Cyclone engines and added a V6 two liter engine of the same type as the Debonair V. The sedan changed its bonnet, front grille and taillamp area, and the hardtop had a front grille and headlamps with yellow bulbs and new taillamps. The Eterna of 1986 was the fourth year of the third generation. The Eterna was a sister car of the Galant, sold at the Car Plaza stores of Mitsubishi while the Galant was sold at the Galant stores.
