The third generation Eterna was fully changed in September 1983 and appeared as a sedan only, with the image character the actor Ken Takakura, who also appeared for the Galant Sigma. The estate van, continued from the previous generation, was built until 1985 and then merged into the Mirage van and Lancer van. The Eterna Sigma was the Car Plaza sister of the Galant Sigma. The Eterna was a sister car of the Galant, sold at the Car Plaza stores of Mitsubishi while the Galant was sold at the Galant stores.
