The second generation Eclipse was redesigned in 1994 for the 1995 model year, with standard dual airbags, more rounded styling, a larger interior and a new engine made by Chrysler for the base model. A convertible, the Eclipse Spyder, was introduced in 1996 in GS and GS-T trim, and a minor style revision came for 1997. The car was available in seven trim levels, and a GT2 Eclipse GSX raced at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1995. Its model years run from 1995 to 1999.
