In 1999 the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th century, behind the Ford Model T and ahead of the Citroen DS and Volkswagen Beetle, and its 40th anniversary fell in August. The Mark VII Mini was still produced by the Rover Group at Longbridge in Birmingham, in the 1.3i and Cooper forms, a year before the production of the Classic Mini would end. Its 40th anniversary came in August of that year.
