For 1988 the Tempo and Topaz sedans were redesigned while the coupes were facelifted, more closely resembling their Taurus and Sable counterparts, and both cars arrived in November 1987. The Topaz sedan and coupe received revised instrument panels with a central gauge cluster including a standard engine temperature gauge, rotary style fan and wiper controls and new HVAC push buttons. Topaz trims were GS, LS and the XR5 and LTS sport versions.
