For 1995 the AOD E transmission was replaced by the heavier duty 4R70W, shared with the Lincoln Mark VIII and Town Car, and the Grand Marquis received a mid cycle update. The 1995 Grand Marquis was a four door sedan built at St. Thomas Assembly, with the 4.6 liter Modular V8, in GS and LS trims, and was marketed to younger buyers who needed a larger car than the Taurus. The second generation Grand Marquis was a four door sedan on the Panther platform with a 4.6 liter Modular V8.
