On 25 June 2001 the Demio got the 1.3 Purele, which raised its quality with the color coordination of the inside and outside, and the 1.3 Aero Active with aero parts for a sportier feel. On 6 November the 1.3 LX-G Special, 1.5 Aletta Special and 1.5 GL Special were sold with added equipment at a price lower than the base cars, and the three base grades moved to this special series. The Demio was built on the Mazda D platform, preceded by the Ford Festiva and the Autozam Revue.
