A natural gas CNG Demio based on the 1.5 GL went on sale on 9 June 2000. A partial improvement on 12 September raised the emission performance of the 1.3 liter car to the low emission certification and reorganized the grades, dropping the 1.3 LX and 1.5 GL-X for a new 1.5 Aletta. Special editions followed: the 1.5 GL Special on 22 September, the at Navi on 27 September and the 1.3 LX Special, limited to 7,500, on 20 December.
