In 1991 Mazda offered a turbocharged engine of 61 PS in the Carol, which was in its second full year in the facelift version, with the larger 657 cc Suzuki F6A engine. The car was produced by Suzuki on the Alto platform, with front or all wheel drive, and wore clear headlight covers that set it apart from the 1989 car. Four-wheel drives received a five-speed gearbox. The Autozam brand was Mazda's youthful brand and was used on Mazda's kei cars for some time.
