For 2007 Lincoln reintroduced the Zephyr as the MKZ, following a broad market trend toward alphanumeric nameplates, with sales beginning in September 2006, and it took over the market of the LS. The 2007 MKZ was presented at the Chicago show in February 2006. Lincoln first suggested pronouncing it mark zee before moving to em kay zee. THX II Premium Certified Audio with 14 speakers was expanded for 2007. The first generation MKZ shared Ford's CD3 platform with the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan.
