During 2012 the Freelander 2 was in the later part of its model life, sold with the PSA-sourced 2.2-litre diesel in eD4, TD4 and SD4 versions and still built at Halewood near Liverpool, in the shadow of the newer Range Rover Evoque, which was cheaper, more premium and had four-wheel drive as standard. Its audio options included a Meridian system with 17 speakers and 825 watts. No change is dated to the 2012 model year in the sources used.
