The Taunus had been a family car of Ford Germany sold across the continent, though in 1989 only the Otosan version from Turkey remained in production. It was by then a very old design, a version of the Taunus TC with remolded front and back panels. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations.
