The Taunus was built in Argentina until the end of 1984, when the production assembly was sold to Turkey, to make what became the Otosan Taunus. The Taunus had been made there since 1974 as a version of the Taunus TC, with changes for the local market. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford.
