The Taunus TC of 1973 included a fashionable fastback coupe in its range, which had no equivalent in the Cortina Mk III, though the Taunus and the Cortina shared most major components, including key parts of the bodyshell. The coupe was offered between 1970 and 1975. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations.
