The Taunus was introduced in 1939 as the G93A, the first car to carry the name that Ford Germany took from the Taunus mountain range, and a streamlined development of the Eifel. It was available as a sedan, an estate car and a light van, and was the first German Ford with hydraulic brakes. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations.
