The Ranchero evolved along with the Falcon in 1964, becoming just a little larger along with its parent and using the same basic body style for 1964 and 1965. It remained a coupe utility on the Falcon sedan delivery body, with the 144, 170 and 260 engines. The idea went back to 1934, when Ford Australia's designer Lew Bandt modified a coupe with a smoothly integrated loadbed. The second generation Ranchero used the same basic body style for 1964 and 1965, after the Falcon grew slightly.
