1977 Ford Pinto

Automobiles

For the 1977 model year the Pinto received its first significant styling update, with slanted back urethane headlamp buckets, parking lamps and a grille, and revised tail lamps except on the wagons. Runabouts offered an optional all glass rear hatch for the first time, and Pinto wagons were given a new option package. In August 1977 the safety agency began an investigation after the Mother Jones article Pinto Madness appeared.
