In 2023 the fifth generation Mondeo was sold exclusively in China, with an exterior in line with the contemporary Ford lineup, LED headlights with a lightbar styling feature and a grille with a breathing effect in which the elements slowly oscillate. Ford was by now concentrating on pickups, SUVs, vans and the Mustang in North America, so the sedan was never intended for sale there. It was marketed in the Middle East as the Ford Taurus.
