The Model T went on sale for 1909 after the first cars left the Piquette Avenue plant in September 1908, and the Runabout opened at 825 dollars. Within two days of its release 15,000 orders had been placed. Only eleven cars were built at Piquette Avenue in the first full month, and demand soon outran what that plant could make. Power came from a 177 cubic inch four cylinder engine of 20 horsepower, which was enough for a top speed of about 42 miles an hour.
