The facelifted Galaxy of 2001 was sold in LX, Zetec and Ghia trims, with a new dashboard and new exterior styling following the August 2000 update. It was assembled with the Sharan and Alhambra at the joint venture plant in Portugal, still with Volkswagen Group engines and automatic gearboxes. It was slotted between the Tourneo Connect and the Tourneo Custom in the Ford range, and was the first Ford brand people carrier made outside North America.
