Falcons built after 1 January 1969 got headrests, along with the side marker lights and front outboard shoulder belts introduced for 1968. The basic body and mechanical specifications were still the same as the 1966 and 1967 models. In 1969 the Falcon was running out of road, facing continuing sales declines and the inability to meet coming safety standards, and the Maverick was soon to replace it.
