The seventh generation Falcon, known as the FG, initially known as project Orion, was announced at a press event on 17 February 2008. The FG moniker references the now discontinued Fairmont Ghia, with a more streamlined range of the Falcon XT, XR6 and XR8 and the G series models G6 and G6E. The inline six received a power upgrade to 195 kilowatts, and the Virtual Pivot front suspension was added to improve steering and handling. Its model years run from 2008 to 2013.
